Mailiao Harbor Green Ecological Port Certification Program

Preface

Since the beginning of construction, Mailiao Industrial Harbor Administration has been planning the reduction of the impact of transportation on the environment. However, harbor activity continues to cause a negative impact on air quality, water quality, and sediment mud within the harbor district, thus impeding its sustainable operation. In order to reverse the environmental degradation and comply with the international trend of green ecological port development, Mailiao Harbor started applying to the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) for ecological port certification since October 2016 with a view to reversing the trend of environmental degradation caused by harbor facilities and harbor activities. Certified as a green, eco-friendly port , including the certification of self-diagnosis method (SDM) and port environmental system (PERS), Mailiao Harbor will continue its efforts to implement environmental policy for harbors and to promote green, ecofriendly.
